Mary Jean went to Catholic schools most of her school years. She married Charles Kingsley and became Catholic. Aunt Dorothy was furious (and the rest of the family thought Dorothy's attitude was awful). She wouldn't attend Mary Jean's wedding, and Uncle George (Sallys father) gave her away. Grandma and Grandpa Curtiss were there; and our family would have been there if it had been possible. We all loved Mary Jean, and my mother was wonderful to her.

Chuck Kinglsy always had a cheerful personality, and adored Mary Jean. During WWII he was a Lt. and pilot, and was knighted by the Prince Regent of Belgium for bravery.. After the War he couldn’t get a job as a pilot with an airline because he was too short (“they” said!) As a salesman, he didn’t keep his jobs very long. Therefore, Mary Jean always worked and mostly was the “bread-winner” The last few years of Mary Jean’s life he stayed home while she worked; but he was wonderful to her taking charge of the house and doing all of the cooking (which he loved) -- and always had a martini ready for her when she got home from work. I believe at this time they were both alcoholics.

A few years after Mary Jean’s death he married a former girlfriend from school (I don’t know her name). They have been very happy; but as of now (2003) Chuck has Alzheimers and we are all feel very bad for him.
