Notes |
- Thom the Saxon, who, the legend says, went to Britain with William the
Conqueror, and fought in the Battle of Hastings. There had to be a man
named Thom in this generation from whom the surname of Thom was taken,
and which surname now numbers many thousands. This name is placed here
to show how we are very probably related to Thom, Tom, Tomes, as well as
Thomas, Thomson, Thompson, and Tomlinsons. Some authorities also include
the Toombs family as descended from this line.
